SOILWORK Postpones Turkish Dates

September 29, 2006

Swedish metallers SOILWORK have posted the following message on their official web site:

"Unfortunately we are forced to postpone the upcoming shows in Turkey [September 30 in Ankara and October 1 in Istanbul] due to the recent bombings/attacks against tourists. We want to give the Turkish fans the best possible show we can and at this moment in time, we do not feel we can provide that due to the state of mind we found ourselves in after hearing about the attacks. We promise to return once there is more stability in the region and once again apologize for any disappointment caused by the cancellation.

"We are still very excited to be able to play in Turkey, we just hope you will have the patience and the understanding until we have confirmed new dates in a near future."

As previously reported, SOILWORK has once again launched a guitarist search after recently completing a number of European dates with the help of Daniel Antonsson (DIMENSION ZERO, PATHOS). Antonsson temporarily filled the vacant slot left by the departure of Peter Wichers, who exited the band in December to pursue a career in producing. According to a posting on SOILWORK's official web site, the band is looking for "a Swedish guitarist who lives close by. . . This has nothing to do with that we look down on guitarists or musicians outside Sweden (I bet there's a lot of guitar players that could manage the SOILWORK stuff!). As we said, we're looking for a Swede. [We] wanna be a rehearsing band again. Hope you understand!"

SOILWORK's next North American appearance will take place this fall when they return for a five-week tour that will take them coast to coast starting October 5. Also appearing on the bill will be DARKEST HOUR, MNEMIC and THREAT SIGNAL.

SOILWORK's latest CD, "Stabbing the Drama", is available now on Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Figure Number Five" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro and Dug-Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STUCK MOJO).
